York electric starter kit is for fitting to tin inner primary covers 1958-1964 FL models with a 4-speed kick start transmission with rachet top, mount plate and a splined motor shaft in a generator type motor.
The rear fender and inner and outer primary covers, are not included, and must be modified for installation of kit. 12 volt charging system, coil, battery regulator and lighting is required. May require an 84 link primary chain, available separately. Oval chain links are for use with nylon chain adjuster pads. *NOTE: The primary chain tensioner mounts to the 2 rear motor mounts. When using a stock full height Panhead oil tank, it is necessary to remove the rear bracket. *NOTE: Includes stress proof reinforced transmission mount plate to support starter arrangement. The oil tank base plate supplied will allow clearance of the starter assembly, and will house a lithium battery. *NOTE for Heavy Duty: Starter is mounted to a cast steel housing, so it is rigidly engages the starter ring gear on the clutch hub. *NOTE: Rear fender, inner and outer primary covers require cutting for installation. Cut inner primary cover to allow starter clearance. Starter mounts to transmission plate.
